Hand Lettering 54 Chevy wagon

My husband has always loved hotrods....
This 54 Chevy wagon belongs to someone who often asks my husband to paint for him....
So today he painted this logo on the two back windows....
Since this was on glass he first laid it out with a white grease pencil....
He uses 1 shot enamel paint and mineral spirits to thin the paint...
It takes a very steady hand...I know I sometimes help him paint depending on the project...
Today I was just the photographer...messing around with manual mode on the camera
Typically he does more of this in the spring when guys are gearing up to do car shows....

So he usually gets a few guys calling around this time wanting him to pinstripe or letter something....
 He enjoys doing it too...
And we enjoy seeing the various cars that come through our garage....

This one is fun...it would make a great family car
We were able to get it outside for a little while to get some nice shots in between rain showers here and there....

Hexagon Patterned table

We have been restocking our booth space at the Peddler's Mall...
So far we've had a good first month and it has been interesting to see what sells and what doesn't....
This little table actually came from my Uncle and Aunt who we wrangled into helping us stock our booth...
I started with a pale grey/white color.  It's a latex sample I had from painting our living room...
Then I decided to do a hexagon pattern on the top since I love painting by hand and messing around with new patterns...
I laid it all out with chalk which wipes off easily and I did the vertical lines first before tracing the hexagon.
I am completely mathematically challenged.  So here's a link to how to draw a hexagon for those of you who might be interested...
I used my Martha Stewart acrylic paints....
Then distressed it and finished it up with some wax....
And of course it's now in our little booth space awaiting it's new home...

New Baby Chicks

I think this photo speaks for itself...
He is over the moon right now...
They are sweet little balls of fluff...
We decided to order from the Hatchery so we could buy pullets...
They already have little personalities...and are getting used to their new home.
We ordered 10 this time --  After starting with 5 or so the first time around and losing almost all of the first group we decided to start with more this time....
Hopefully they will all make it but we'll probably lose a couple along the way...
We'll see...

Flexible Flyer Sled

My Dad is the consummate dumpster diver...
maybe trash picker would be a better description...
He has always worked outdoors and been on the road back and forth to job sites so I can remember as a little girl him coming home and saying "Look what I found on the road today..."
I get it honest...
He brought me this beauty yesterday and my husband and I love it...
What's not to love...amazing graphics
great patina...
It's still in amazing shape and all there...

 A great winter time decoration...
I have a pair of old ice skates that will look great with this...
Thanks Dad!!!  A great trash score...

Thin Leather Wrap Bracelet

I did a post a few weeks ago with a new style of leather bracelet I made.
I added two 1/2" letter charms (one sterling and one copper) to that one...
This is another version and I love this too...
I cut a strip of tooling leather about 1/8" wide then added a small, metal fold-over crimped end cap to each end...
and a magnetic closure.
This bracelet I used a copper washer with the initials "A" and "L"
The brass and sterling washers would look really sharp too with the tan colored leather dye---
a nice personalized gift...
This is available in our Etsy store (link at the top on the right)

Vintage Egg Basket

My first purchase from the Peddler's Mall where we have our booth...
We have enjoyed raising the chickens and getting fresh eggs....the photo above is Little Red.  She is the last survivor from the second set that we bought.  None of the first set made it
(and three of the five were roosters)
And this is Miss Goldie who is so friendly and has the perfect disposition for the kids....
We get two eggs a day sometimes one and lately none....but I have been on the hunt for egg baskets since we started getting eggs.

While checking on our booth the other night I spied this little treasure up on a shelf in a booth across the aisle....
I couldn't pass it up!  I don't think I've ever seen one this size.  They are almost always large
....so I had to make my first purchase
I love it....and will probably still buy a larger one at some point this year while flea marketing.
We ordered baby chicks with our sister in law over at Red Barn Revival, and they should be here in a week or so...
can't wait to see the new babies...

Reynold's Factory Cart

The second factory cart we have to sell...
24" x 64" and 14 1/2" tall she's a bit narrower than the others I've seen and that would be really nice for a coffee table...
Metal corners that wrap around...
 Lettering on each side....
Somewhat sanded but still plenty of patina and color on the top...
She's available and in our booth at the Peddler's Mall.

4 Name Mother's Necklace New style

A new style mother's necklace and I'm thrilled with how it turned out....I have been holding this post back until the necklace was given as a gift and now I can finally share!
Four charms is usually about the limit that I can fit on without compromising the design...
It starts to look "crowded" and it's harder to see or read the information.
I also really like the idea of representing the marriage along with the kids.
Just a personal preference really....
I think it is all too easy as a mom to forget sometimes that your marriage comes first...
Four children's names and their anniversary date on just 3 charms...
and it still has a very simple design...
I love it!
This necklace will now be available in our Etsy shop (see the link back at the top on the right) to personalize and purchase....
