Handmade Holiday Decorating

Last year, when I first started blogging, I made these fun little paper mache snowmen....
And while making them in February I was already thinking about using them in a different way to decorate for Christmas :)
So here's what I came up with!  This is probably about 80, water balloon sized, paper mache balls...
I started with this thread wanting them to all be silver.  But I bought 2 of these (for about $2 each) and went through them pretty quick.  So we used whatever I could find.  Kite string worked really great.
100 water balloons---may I suggest NOT blowing them up yourself!!!  I used my husband's air compressor and it went really quick.
Here they are waiting to become part of our mantel decor...if you want the "how to" including the paper mache recipe click here.
It looks really cool all lit up in the dark which is hard to capture in photos....and my son is so impressed with the hanging snowflakes :)...
The "Believe" was part of an old decoration, I spray painted it silver.  And I think I spent $1 on the balloons in Target's dollar section, $4 on the silver thread, and the snowflakes are plastic, glittered ones I think we paid $5 for a tube of like 25 last year....
It's beginning to look alot like Christmas at our house!!!!

  1. Looks really nice. Gives me an idea for the open weave metal balls that I bought this summer. Good luck
