Hemming trick for denim

I'm a little vertically challenged:) so needless to say whenever I buy pants they almost always need to be hemmed....
My Sister-in-Law saw this on a blog somewhere (this was before I started mine or I would gladly give credit!) and I stored it away in my brain for future use.
This lets you keep the original hem which has the yellow thread and still hem your jeans!
So while wearing the jeans I decided on how long I wanted them.  I don't have a photo of that step:) BUT make sure not to forget that the original hem will be in your length.  I then folded them up....
and my finger is pointing to the place where I stitched with the sewing machine...I actually decided to wear mine a couple of times BEFORE I cut the excess just to make sure it was where I wanted it....
Next cut off the excess denim...
 Fold right side out....
And iron!
I have to say it's a pretty nifty little sewing trick, especially if you have to hem most of your pants.  I was thinking this would also be a good way to save a cuff on pants that needed hemmed....
And in the photo you can see a dark line where the stitching is but when you're wearing them you really can't tell at all.
