A few photos of our new nursery decorations at church! I really wanted to spend our money on bigger pieces like cabinets, rocking chairs, and some nice rolling cubbies that a church member custom built for us. So I needed lots and lots of colorful decorations but I didn't want to spend a lot of money....
Our childrens' director made these little life savors to label each of our childrens' classrooms....very cute hanging out in the hallways...
She offered some netting and shells for me to use and I saw she'd put netting behind the other floats in the hallway...so I did the same and added some starfish to take up some of the empty space in the middles....
Here's our sign hanging in the hallway...
I stenciled both sides so you can read it from either direction....
Some netting and shells on the soffit...and some colorful bunting! I used bunting instead of curtains in one room...sorry no photos of that...
And I hung them on top of the one way window of each room that's out in the hallway.
I bought 6 different fabrics (fat quarters) from Fabric Shack in Waynesville...
I was able to get 60 triangles (10 triangles per fabric pattern) out of that fabric! Pretty big bang for your buck if you need a lot of color or fabric to decorate with. I left each quarter folded in half and I think each triangle is about 7 &1/2" across at the top--
I did sew a pocket at the top of each about 1/2" to be able to string them on and as these are up high the edges are all raw....
And here are my colored coffee filters!!!! I did a post about coloring those here.
They look really fun hanging in the center of each room. And I actually have several more to add to each room...
I used a push pin pushed into the styrofoam, and some fishing line to hang them with...and from all my years as a teacher...good 'ole paper clips unfolded to hang them from the drop ceiling.
We still have a few odds and ends to finish up but overall it's finally looking like a real nursery!
Wow! What a great job you have done! I love how everything looks. I am the director of our church nursery and we are about to embark on a project to remodel our nursery and try to make better use of the space we have. We will end up redecorating everything since we will be knocking out a couple of walls and repainting them, and recarpeting. I Googled nursery decorating ideas and found your blog. Thanks so much for posting all of your great ideas..really love the bunting and am heading over to read how you made the coffee filter balls..I am doing this on the cheap and these will add a lot of color for little money. congratulations on a great job1
