Fabric pumpkins

As requested by Helen :) my fabric pumpkins.....

I cannot take any credit for this
--at our MOPS meeting last fall we each made one and I decided to make several with Doodlebug because they were so easy and kid friendly.
So the photo below is what you need....
One regular sized roll of toilet paper, one fat quarter, some plastic bags (or you can use batting), and some sticks cut or broken into 6" pieces.
The toilet paper goes in the center and I always start with a long corner and then kind of tuck the shorter sides in underneath...You put your stuffing in and keep tucking your fabric into the center of the roll as you go...
We used 5 bags per pumpkin --obviously the more bags you use the fuller and fatter they will be.
When you only have one corner left to tuck it's a good time to add extra stuffing if you want it.
Your stick goes in the center and viola!

Cutie patootie fabric pumpkins!  The great thing is   they can't really get messed up or as Doodlebug would say "accidentally destroyed maliciously"
Can you tell he's watched Despicable Me?!?!?!?
I can reuse them each year.
And the best part --it's fun to do with your kiddos...

  2. I am astounded! Toilet paper? Really? How very simple and easy! I will have to try this and be sure to put one in the bathroom for a "spare" ;) Thanks for the instructions.

  3. I've been wondering how to make something like this. Thanks so much! I may try to get some velvet scraps from my mother ( the fabric queen ) and try to make some to imitate the velvet pumpkins i've been seeing. Enjoyed meeting you this past weekend!
