Snowmen..if ya can't beat 'em join 'em!!!

I'm REALLY tired of snow and winter.  R.E.A.L.L.Y.   But I saw these little yarn ball snowmen at one point in all the *looking* I do and then also saw this really cool paper mache lamp in the DIY (Better Homes and Gardens) magazine recently....my wheels were spinning
and this was what I came up with!
Doodlebug and I had some messy fun making them....
First we blew up the balloons in small/medium/large sizes

Found some great tips for making the paper mache ~~use the traditional 2 parts water to 1 part flour ( I used 2 cups of water and 1 cup of flour) then you can add flour or water as needed.  One suggestion was to add salt if you live in a humid place.  It prevents molding.
Second tip was to add cinnamon!!!!  Smells GREAT!  I added probably about a tablespoon---really didn't measure.....We used cream colored yarn in 2 different sizes {it was what I had left from various knitting ventures} I cut ours into yard lengths and Doodlebug was the dipper...
Next came the wrapping....this is after alot of dripping and hand wiping...Doodlebug likes to make art but constantly needs clean hands....BAAAAD combination people!
It took the small ones about a day to dry.  The thicker yarn took about 2 days but turned out nice and sturdy.
The much awaited and HIGHLY anticipated popping of the balloons!!!
Used some needlenose piers to pull out the balloons...

We planned out which should go together to make each of our men....then came the fun part....hot glued them together and started "dressing" our guys....
I have just a---aaahhhhem  *few* buttons on hand...
Here's another view of the finished snow guys!!!  I'm thinking that we may glue some long cinnamon sticks to the bottoms to help them stand up.  I'm also thinking that I'd like to make a bunch of these in a small size (maybe water balloons) and spray paint them silver to put onto a string of Christmas lights for our mantel next year....lots of fun things you could do....
I 'm linking this post to the Sunday Showcase at Under the Table and Dreaming.
